China has made a giant preference to Azerbaijan in the implementation of the free trade agreement with Georgia, signed this year.

Azerbaijani governmental sources say that China has chosen the Baku international sea trade port in Alat settlement as the head port for duty-free supplies of Georgian products to China.

"In practice, this means that the main flow of goods from Georgia to China must go through Alat. In its turn, Azerbaijan needs to ensure regular supplies, speed and quality of cargo handling in Alat," the source said.

According to the source, the new status of the port will allow Azerbaijan Railways and Caspian Shipping Company to obtain a substantial income on the Georgian transit.

"The issue of the Azerbaijani-Chinese agreement on free trade is not actual in connection with the general non-readiness of the industry for it," the source said.

The source points out that Azerbaijani businesses have not necessary volume of production yet and are not capable of large scale production and supply.
